BREAKING: Huge setback to the Dallas Mavericks as star player will miss out on at least a month’s action

The Dallas Mavericks have suffered a significant blow with star player set to miss at least a month due to a calf injury. Doncic sustained the injury during the Christmas Day game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, and further examination revealed the severity of the issue. While the exact details remain unclear, the Mavericks’ shooting guard underwent an MRI, which confirmed the length of his absence.

The extended time off rules Doncic out of contention for the MVP and other major awards this season. He has already missed eight games this season, five of which were due to a sprained right wrist. Doncic limped off the court and into the locker room after a timeout during Wednesday’s game. With the Mavericks scheduled for 17 games next month, this will bring the total number of games Doncic misses to 25, exceeding the 15-game limit for award eligibility. He has been averaging 28.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.

The injury occurred just after Doncic returned from a two-game absence due to a left heel contusion. Despite his absence, the Mavericks, currently 4th in the Western Conference, have posted a 6-2 record without him. Kyrie Irving has stepped up in Doncic’s place, averaging 24 points in games where Doncic is sidelined. Additionally, Klay Thompson, the team’s major off-season acquisition, has contributed with his three-point shooting.

While the Mavericks had high hopes after last season’s finals appearance, Doncic’s injury is a significant setback. His clutch performances have been crucial for the team, and his absence will undoubtedly be felt. It remains to be seen how the Mavericks will fare in his absence as they aim to maintain their position in the standings.
