For the past 30 years, the Green Bay Packers have exemplified consistency at the quarterback position, relying on just three key figures: Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and now Jordan Love.
Although Jordan Love was drafted as Rodgers’ eventual replacement, he reflects positively on his time with the veteran QB. Love recently shared his thoughts with Jason Wilde of Channel 3000 following the news of Rodgers signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I was happy for A-Rod. It didn’t really catch me off guard,” Love said. “There were a lot of rumors this offseason linking him to the Steelers.”
The dynamic between Rodgers and Love could have been tense, especially given that Love was drafted in the first round in 2020 while Rodgers was still performing at an MVP level. Nevertheless, Love is glad to see Rodgers continue his career in 2025.
“It was great to see him coming back to play,” Love added. “There had been talk that he might retire, so just knowing he’s still out there is awesome.”
Love Reflects on Relationship with Rodgers
Despite the tricky circumstances of his arrival in Green Bay, Love praised Rodgers for how he handled the situation—especially since Rodgers had once been in a similar spot when he replaced Brett Favre after being a first-round pick in 2005.
“I really appreciated the way A-Rod managed everything,” Love said. “He told me he remembered what it was like being in my position and how things were handled back then.”
Rodgers remained one of the league’s top QBs during Love’s first two years with the team, even winning consecutive MVP awards. Despite potential friction, the two maintained a positive and respectful relationship.
“We had a great connection,” Love said. “It was incredible sharing the QB room with him, learning from him. He was always supportive—especially as I stepped into the starting role. His professionalism really helped quiet a lot of the outside noise.”
Although Rodgers hasn’t yet faced the Packers since his departure, that will change on October 26, 2025, when Green Bay visits Pittsburgh in a highly anticipated Week 8 showdown. With the game scheduled for primetime, fans will finally get to see the former teammates compete head-to-head on a national stage.
