TRANSFER ROUNDUP: Huge Boost, Another Highly rated super talent transfer To Purdue

Purdue has bolstered its tight end group with the addition of Rico Walker, a transfer who previously played at Auburn and Maryland. Walker, who still has three years of eligibility, announced his commitment to the Boilermakers on Friday.

The news was first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247Sports.

Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Walker was a four-star recruit in high school and committed to Maryland as part of the 2023 class. During his freshman year with the Terrapins, he appeared in eight games and tallied four receptions for 27 yards.

After the 2023 season, Walker entered the transfer portal and ended up at Auburn. He played in four games for the Tigers in 2024 but preserved his redshirt year and didn’t post any stats.

Walker becomes part of a significant influx of transfers Purdue has secured under head coach Barry Odom, who took over in December. The Boilermakers have brought in nearly 60 transfers in an effort to revamp the team following a 1-11 season.
