Massive boost: West Virginia Mountaineers confirm mind-blowing news as top-notch super talent confirm to return back to West Virginia

A surprising return to West Virginia’s defense is set for 2025.

WVU defensive back revealed on Tuesday that he will return to Morgantown for his final year of eligibility. He had initially planned to finish his eligibility in 2024, but having spent part of his college career at the JUCO level, he has been granted an extra year by the NCAA following a court ruling that applies to all athletes from that level.

In 2024, he recorded 35 tackles, 1 pass deflection, and 1 forced fumble for the Mountaineers, with his playing time growing as the season progressed. He emerged as one of the top defensive backs in a struggling secondary. Additionally, Tarnue brings valuable experience from his time under both Rich Rodriguez and Zac Alley.

He played the 2023 season at Jacksonville State, where he was part of the same defense Alley will implement in Morgantown.
