The New York Giants are in a difficult position at quarterback, waiting for a decision from Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, with the final choice likely beyond their control.
One NFL analyst suggests that the Giants may take a different approach, making a bold move to trade up to the top of the draft to secure this year’s top quarterback prospect.
According to The Athletic’s Michael Silver, Dianna Russini, and Alec Lewis, both the Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers are waiting for Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell to decide on Rodgers. The report indicates that the Vikings are Rodgers’ preferred team but have yet to decide whether to sign him or stick with J.J. McCarthy as their starter.
“Rodgers has been pursued by both the Steelers and the Giants, but he’s effectively put both teams on hold as he waits for clarity on the Vikings’ situation,” the report states. “If Minnesota is no longer an option, Rodgers could decline both the Steelers (a 2024 playoff team) and the Giants, possibly opting for retirement instead.”

CBS Sports insider Kyle Stackpole believes the Giants may explore another option if they miss out on Rodgers, potentially trading up to the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
“Reports suggest that the Titans are interested in Cam Ward, but the desperate Giants may offer more,” Stackpole wrote. “After missing out in free agency, New York could trade up to secure their franchise quarterback.”
