New York Giants bolster squad depth with physically gifted player

On Friday, the New York Giants bolstered their defensive line by signing veteran defensive tackle  to a one-year contract worth $1.775 million, which could exceed $2 million with performance-based incentives.

He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the sixth round (No. 205 overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft after completing his final two years of college football at Arkansas.

Ledbetter spent one season with the Detroit Lions before joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played from 2018 to 2020 and was part of the team that won Super Bowl LV.

In 2021, he had a brief stint with the Arizona Cardinals before moving to the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he played through last season.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 299 pounds, Ledbetter has appeared in 53 regular-season games, with five starts. Of those, 32 games were with the Jaguars over the past two seasons. He has recorded 80 career tackles (36 solo), 10 tackles for loss, 12 quarterback hits, and 3.5 sacks.

Ledbetter was also a consistent contributor on special teams for the Jaguars over the last two seasons, participating in 15% of their special teams snaps in 2023 and 18% in 2024.

According to his PFF scouting report, Ledbetter has played both 3-technique and edge positions, with his ideal role being a base defensive end who moves inside during nickel packages. His signing is aimed at strengthening the depth of the Giants’ defensive line.
