TCU Football Faces Quarterback Departure

TCU Football Faces Quarterback Changes Amidst Transfers

TCU football is experiencing significant shifts at the quarterback position as multiple players enter and exit the program via the transfer portal. The Horned Frogs, who have been working to maintain stability under center, now find themselves in the midst of a major transition.

Former starting quarterback Chandler Morris, who originally transferred to TCU from Oklahoma in 2021, has once again decided to move on. After an injury-riddled tenure in Fort Worth, Morris entered the transfer portal on December 9, 2024. Just a week later, he announced his commitment to the University of Virginia, marking his third transfer in recent years.

To counter Morris’ departure, TCU quickly secured a commitment from former Vanderbilt quarterback Ken Seals on January 4, 2024. Seals, who brings SEC experience, is expected to provide leadership and depth to the Horned Frogs’ quarterback room. The coaching staff hopes his presence will stabilize the offense heading into the next season.

With Morris gone and Seals stepping in, TCU’s quarterback competition is set to heat up. The team may still look to add another player through the transfer portal or rely on younger talent already in the program. As spring practices approach, all eyes will be on head coach Sonny Dykes and his staff as they navigate this period of transition.

The Horned Frogs are no strangers to adversity, and while the quarterback carousel continues, the team remains focused on preparing for another competitive season in the Big 12.
