The New York Giants have about 24 hours before the legal tampering period begins, but they might have a chance to make a move before then.
With the expectation that the New York Jets will cut veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Giants could have an opportunity to sign the 41-year-old ahead of the official start of free agency.
In his final predictions ahead of Monday’s legal tampering period, Gary Davenport of Bleacher Report has the Giants landing the four-time MVP to help solve their quarterback issues.
“The wisdom of signing a 41-year-old quarterback coming off a down season is admittedly questionable,” Davenport wrote. “But what isn’t in question is the shaky ground Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen find themselves on entering 2025. If the Giants aren’t significantly better this year, heads will likely roll.”
The discussion about whether Aaron Rodgers is a viable option for the Giants has been ongoing ever since their interest in him surfaced a few weeks ago. Many have questioned if it’s truly worth pursuing the future Hall-of-Famer, given the baggage he comes with.

Even the 2024 version of Rodgers would be a significant upgrade over what the Giants had at quarterback last season. While that’s not saying much, it does play a role in the team’s decision-making. However, Rodgers alone won’t turn the Giants into a playoff contender, meaning they’re likely hoping for somewhere around 7-8 wins.
There’s no doubt that Rodgers has had a remarkable career that will land him in the Hall of Fame, but it’s hard to see how he elevates a team coming off a 3-14 season.
