Seattle Seahawks Confirm Another Game-Changing Trade Move

The Seattle Seahawks kicked off the 2025 offseason with a major move, trading quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. This transaction marks the first significant quarterback move in a free agency market lacking top-tier options. According to recent reports, the Seahawks may not be finished making big waves.

DK Metcalf trade rumors: Packers odds to land Seahawks wide receiver

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, appearing on the Rich Eisen Show, predicted that Seahawks star wide receiver DK Metcalf could be traded soon, possibly by the end of the weekend. The Raiders, who just acquired Smith and need wide receiver help, are a likely destination for Metcalf.

However, Daniel Jeremiah recently suggested on The Pat McAfee Show that the New England Patriots could be a strong contender for Metcalf. The Patriots, with significant cap space and a struggling receiving corps, would benefit from Metcalf’s WR1 talent. Yet, there’s a hurdle: Metcalf has expressed reluctance about moving to Boston, although he lacks a no-trade clause and has limited say in where he could end up.

The financial implications for Seattle are another concern. Trading Metcalf before June 1 would save the Seahawks $11 million in cap space but result in a $21 million dead money hit. Seattle reportedly seeks a first- and third-round pick in exchange for Metcalf, though so far, the highest offer has been a third-round pick.

The next few days could see another major shift for Seattle as they navigate potential deals for their star receiver.
