Chicago White Sox receive strong message from Luis Robert Jr. regarding trade rumors

The Chicago White Sox are headed for another tough season. Last year, they suffered 121 losses, setting a record for the most defeats in a single season.

One player, however, is likely to attract significant trade interest over the next few months. Luis Robert Jr. is having an impressive spring, effectively raising his value well in advance of the trade deadline.

When asked about the trade rumors and his knowledge of the situation, Robert offered a brief response.

“Yes, I know. I know that especially right now, a bunch of other teams are looking at me,” Robert said through interpreter Billy Russo. “It’s a possibility. I know that there’s a possibility there.”

Robert doesn’t seem to be too worried about the trade rumors at the moment, and is instead focused on what he can do to improve in 2025.

Last year was a disappointing one for the slugger. He posted a .224/.278/.379 line with 14 home runs, 35 RBI, and a subpar .657 OPS, though he did manage to steal 23 bases.

However, Robert has a Silver Slugger Award, a Gold Glove, and an All-Star appearance under his belt, and he’s not far removed from a strong 2023 season with 38 home runs and 80 RBI.

If he can regain his 2023 form, his trade value will rise, and contending teams will likely target him as the trade deadline nears.

For now, Robert isn’t focused on the rumors. Instead, he’s concentrating on bouncing back in 2025. The White Sox may not be contenders, but Robert could still shine in the first half of the season, making him a potential asset leading up to the trade deadline.

It will be interesting to see what happens next for the White Sox slugger.
