Defenseman left Tuesday night’s game in Pittsburgh after appearing to lose his balance while skating through the neutral zone against the Penguins.
Siegenthaler, a key player for the Devils this season who averages 19:54 of ice time per game, was assisted off the ice by the team’s athletic trainer and did not return. The 27-year-old has logged the second-highest minutes among Devils defensemen this season with 1074:53 in 53 games, just behind Dougie Hamilton’s 1075:31 (prior to Tuesday’s game).
Head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed after the game that Siegenthaler “is going to miss some time, for sure,” and will undergo evaluation on Wednesday when the team returns to New Jersey.
The Devils have been struggling with injuries, already missing goaltender Jacob Markstrom and captain Nico Hischier.
