BREAKING: Gifted 4-Star Edge Rusher Decommits from Alabama

In-state recruit had been committed to the Crimson Tide since July of the previous year.

The Crimson Tide’s 2027 recruiting class faced a setback this week as Kalen DeBoer and his staff lost the commitment of 4-Star edge rusher.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound defender had been committed to Alabama since July of last year and confirmed his decision on social media.

“All love Bama fam, please respect my decision,” he wrote in his post.

An in-state recruit, Willis is from Moody, Alabama, and had an outstanding season for the Blue Devils. He recorded 95 total tackles, 26 of which were for a loss, and 17.0 sacks. As a sophomore in 2023, Willis was just as dominant, finishing with 80 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, and nine sacks.

In-state Edge Ba'Roc Willis commits to Alabama

247Sports ranks the talented edge rusher as the No. 4 player in Alabama and No. 57 overall in the nation. He is one of the most highly coveted prospects in the 2027 class, making his decommitment a significant blow to the Crimson Tide. While there’s still plenty of time to recover the commitment, DeBoer and his staff have faced challenges in recruiting within the state early in their tenure.

Willis was one of only three commits for the 2027 class, which now includes athlete Alexander Ward and fellow edge rusher Jabarrius Garror. Currently, Alabama ranks second in the nation for the 2027 class, trailing only Ohio State.
