Latest: UW confirm to land coaching job for O’Dea star as safeties coach

According to several reports, the UW Huskies are bringing  a former standout at Seattle’s O’Dea High School, as their new safeties coach.

A former All-American safety at USC, will take over for Vinnie Sunseri, who departed Montlake after just one season to become the defensive coordinator at Jacksonville State.

He has spent the last three years coaching defensive backs and serving as a defensive analyst at USC. He will join the UW coaching staff, which recently added Ryan Walters as the new defensive coordinator, replacing Steve Belichick earlier this month.

Mays was one of Washington’s most highly regarded recruits, earning a five-star ranking as the top prospect in the state and 11th nationally in the 2006 class, according to 247Sports.com. Over his four years with the USC Trojans, he received All-America and All-Pac-10 honors from various outlets.
