Despite dealing with a shoulder injury from Penn State’s Fiesta Bowl victory over Boise State, Abdul Carter made an impact during Thursday night’s College Football Playoff loss to Notre Dame. The All-American pass rusher for the Nittany Lions registered five tackles and a sack, despite his uncertain status leading up to the Orange Bowl.
The narrow 27–24 defeat marked Carter’s final college game, as he is expected to declare for the 2025 NFL draft as a likely first-round pick.
Agent Drew Rosenhaus, who will represent Carter in his professional career, confirmed the news to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday morning.
Throughout his time with Penn State, Carter was a key figure in James Franklin’s defense, accumulating 23 career sacks, including 12 in the 2024–25 season. In his junior year, he totaled 68 tackles, forced two fumbles, and defended four passes. Ranked No. 2 on Sports Illustrated’s list of top 2025 NFL draft prospects, Carter is projected to be a top 10 pick.
