Alabama received an early Christmas gift on Tuesday with a commitment from another 4-star player.
This commitment is especially significant for head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Crimson Tide, as it comes after they lost their only commitment for the 2026 class earlier this month when defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland decommitted. Like Cleveland, who is from Birmingham, Gibson is another highly regarded in-state prospect, hailing from Gadsden.
the gifted player made his commitment official on Christmas Eve during a live stream on social media, where he celebrated by wearing an Alabama baseball hat as balloons with the Alabama logo floated overhead, all while his friends and family cheered enthusiastically.
He received offers from over 15 Division I programs and ultimately chose Alabama over Auburn, Tennessee, and Miami. Ranked as the 7th-best player in Alabama and the No. 7 cornerback nationally by the 247Sports Composite, he is considered a top prospect.
In high school, Gibson has showcased his versatility by playing both cornerback and wide receiver. As a sophomore in 2023, the 5-foot-11, 177-pound athlete posted 17 tackles, one tackle-for-loss, and a fumble recovery in just seven games. This season, as a wide receiver, he recorded 4 catches for 97 yards and 2 touchdowns over 8 games.
Looking ahead, Gibson is expected to play a key role in Alabama’s secondary—and possibly even contribute to the wide receiver corps—when he joins the program in the fall of 2026.
