South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer is likely celebrating the addition of a new quarterback to his team.
Former Ohio State QB announced on Monday evening that he’s transferring from Columbus to join the Gamecocks in Columbia.
Noland still has four years of eligibility remaining after redshirting in 2024. Air Noland transfers from Ohio State to South Carolina. For those who might not recall, Air Noland was once considered a top recruit for Ohio State. Ryan Day’s staff convinced him to commit over offers from prestigious programs such as Alabama, Clemson, Miami, Ole Miss, Oregon, Texas A&M, Utah, and more.
The highly-ranked QB recruit chose the Buckeyes, but his time there was brief. His situation mirrors that of Quinn Ewers, who also redshirted before transferring.
Why is he leaving? There are likely multiple reasons, but the fact that Ohio State is developing five-star recruit Julian Sayin as the future starter and has another five-star, Tavien St. Clair, joining the program likely influenced his decision. With so much competition, Noland may have felt that his chances of starting were slim.
As for South Carolina, Beamer has secured a highly talented QB with immense potential. Noland was highly sought after in high school due to his remarkable skills, and now, Beamer has added even more talent to his QB room.
LaNorris Sellers is set to remain the starter in 2025, with the possibility of leaving for the NFL after his redshirt sophomore year. This would give Noland time to develop and position himself as the front-runner for the starting QB spot in Beamer’s program.
Having options is always beneficial, and Beamer now has just that.
