BREAKING: West Virginia Mountaineers confirm the departure of most decorated RB

Ohio State football secured a talented running back through the transfer portal. Coming off a dominant home victory over No. 7 Tennessee in the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes are gearing up for the Rose Bowl against Oregon. Meanwhile, head coach Ryan Day and his staff continue to stay active in the transfer portal, bringing in West Virginia running

On3 writer Grant Grubbs confirmed  commitment to Ohio State. He will join a Buckeyes backfield that is expected to undergo some rebuilding. However, despite this, the program’s expectations for 2024 remain as high as ever.

A Miami native, the standout player rushed for 2,058 yards and 30 touchdowns during his time at West Virginia, averaging 4.9 yards per carry. Despite some struggles at quarterback in Morgantown and the recent firing of the Mountaineers’ head coach, the junior running back has remained a consistent performer throughout his career.

Even with two of the best running backs in the country, Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, Ohio State’s ground game has been inconsistent this season. The Buckeyes ranked fifth in the Big Ten in rushing offense, which isn’t bad, but the unit struggled in key games, such as their loss to Michigan, where they managed just 77 yards on the ground. On a brighter note, Judkins and Henderson each scored twice in Ohio State’s victory over Tennessee.
