The Los Angeles Angels are reportedly close to trading one of their outfielders.
MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand indicates that the Angels “seem to be on the verge of trading an outfielder.” Although Feinsand did not mention a specific player, he pointed out that Taylor Ward has attracted significant interest, and it “wouldn’t be surprising” if he were the one to be traded.
Ward has been considered a potential trade candidate throughout the offseason. Earlier in the winter, the Kansas City Royals were reportedly interested in acquiring him.
The 30-year-old outfielder is under team control for two more years before hitting free agency in 2027. This past season, Ward posted a .246/.323/.426 batting line, setting career highs with 25 home runs and 75 RBIs. He also showcased his durability, playing in a personal best 156 games.
While Ward is often speculated as the likely outfielder to be traded, there are other potential candidates. The Angels also have former top prospects Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak, who could be moved.
Adell, 25, played a career-high 130 games last season, posting a .207/.280/.402 line with 20 home runs and 62 RBIs. He was also a finalist for a Gold Glove award.
Moniak, 26, appeared in a career-best 124 games, batting .219/.266/.380 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs.
