This past weekend, five-star recruit a 2025 Auburn commitment, made an official visit to Texas.
A 6-foot-4 defensive lineman from Oak Park, Illinois, traveled to Austin to check out the Longhorns. However, it’s still unclear whether the visit has influenced his decision to switch his commitment from Auburn to Texas.
Based on the above X post, Rivals suggested that the Longhorns have a strong chance of landing the Auburn commit, which was unexpected. Marshall is not very open to interviews, so, according to Horns247, the full picture of what’s happening with him remains unclear, as highlighted in the following quote.
“Horns247 is still working to gather more details on the official visit and overall flip chances of Oak Park (Ill.) Fenwick Top247 defensive lineman and Auburn commit Nathaniel Marshall. We will have an update when we gather enough.”
When Auburn secured Marshall’s commitment from Michigan on August 23, 2024, it significantly strengthened one of the nation’s top defensive line classes. His commitment played a key role in propelling the Tigers up the Rivals recruiting rankings, where they have now reached No. 3 overall.
Historically, when a committed player visits another program close to National Signing Day, it often signals trouble for the school holding the commitment. However, it’s important to note that Auburn made a strong push for Marshall, even traveling all the way to Illinois to secure his pledge.
Despite Texas’ recent efforts, Auburn is not without its influence. With only eight days remaining until National Signing Day, it’s safe to assume that Auburn has already begun reminding Marshall of the reasons he chose to commit to the Tigers in the first place. Additionally, Auburn’s recruiting class has only strengthened since Marshall’s initial commitment.
