BREAKING: Mariners Trim 40-Man Roster, Release Struggling Infielder From First Team

The Seattle Mariners made a notable roster move today, announcing that left-handed reliever  has been released from the organization’s 40-man roster and will no longer be part of the first-team setup. The decision comes as the club continues to re-evaluate bullpen depth ahead of the upcoming stretch of the season.

The 31-year-old had been looking to regain his form after a difficult run marked by inconsistency and elevated walk rates. Despite flashes of effectiveness and a history of generating soft contact, he struggled to deliver reliable outings this year, prompting the front office to open up a roster spot.

In a brief statement, the team noted the decision was based on performance and roster flexibility needs. The move potentially clears space for a younger arm within the club’s pitching pipeline or for an external acquisition.

The left-hander joined Seattle with promise, and at times showed the ability to navigate tough matchups, but ultimately was unable to stabilize his role in a bullpen that has demanded high-leverage reliability.

Saucedo will now be available to other clubs, either via waivers or free agency, depending on the procedural outcome of his release.

Seattle is expected to announce corresponding roster moves in the coming days as they continue shaping a bullpen built for late-season competitiveness.
