The Cincinnati Reds announced Monday morning that they have traded outfielder to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for cash considerations.
Vilade, who was claimed off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals in June, appeared in just one game for Cincinnati without recording a plate appearance.
In 65 games with Triple-A Louisville, Ryan Vilade posted a .296/.381/.536 slash line, collecting 31 extra-base hits, including 12 home runs.
The trade likely serves as a roster-clearing move, as the Reds are expected to add several prospects to their 40-man roster ahead of December’s Rule 5 Draft.
Just last week, Cincinnati non-tendered Santiago Espinal and Ian Gibaut, both of whom declined their options and chose free agency.
The Reds wrapped up the 2025 season with an 83–79 record, earning their first postseason appearance since 2020 and only their second since 2013. Their playoff run ended in the National League Wild Card Series, where they were eliminated by the Los Angeles Dodgers in two games.
