Phillies’ Trea Turner Sends 3-Word Passionate Message Amid Hot Stretch

Before the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Phillies signed Trea Turner to a \$300 million contract. Although he got off to a slow start, he finished his first year strong. Turner made the All-Star team last season, but was left out this year.

Despite the All-Star snub, Turner has been one of the top players in the league this season. As of Thursday, he’s batting .295 and leads the National League with 151 hits. He had a minor slump in July, but still managed a solid .268 average.

This month, Turner has been on fire, posting a .914 OPS and hitting .333. Over his last seven games, he’s racked up 21 hits, marking the highest total by a Phillies player since 1930, according to Matt Gelb of The Athletic.

“Consistency is nice,” Turner said of his hit stretch, per Gelb.

Turner was one of many Phillies players who had a case to be named an All-Star. However, he has responded by continuing to help his team win.

The Phillies entered Thursday with the second-best record in the National League and the third-best record in all of baseball. It’s hard to imagine them being in this position without Turner.

Turner’s OPS is down slightly from last season, but he still has a 116 OPS+. He has already led baseball in hits twice in his career, and could do so again this year as well.

He is a three-time All-Star, Silver Slugger, batting champion and World Series champion. He is now trying to help lead the Phillies to the Fall Classic.
