The Texas Rangers (60–55) will host the New York Yankees (60–54) on Wednesday afternoon, aiming to complete a three-game sweep at Globe Life Field.
After winning 8–5 and 2–0 in the first two games, the Rangers will send rookie Jack Leiter (7–6, 4.10 ERA) to the mound. The Yankees will counter with left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodón (11–7, 3.34 ERA), who has been strong in recent starts.
New York activated power hitter Aaron Judge from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, but he went 0-for-3 in the 2–0 loss.
With Judge back in the lineup and the Yankees desperate to halt their five-game skid, Wednesday’s matinee offers a chance to shift momentum, though the Rangers have made it clear on X, “We want a sweep.”
New York is currently 5½ games behind the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays, with Aaron Judge still leading all of MLB in several key categories—batting average (.339), on-base percentage (.446), slugging (.705), home runs (37), and RBIs (85) after 104 games.
On the other hand, Texas is awaiting the return of first baseman Jake Burger, who’s recovering from a quad sprain. Burger started a minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday after being sidelined since July 12.
