Dallas Wings Get Major Boost With Latest Paige Bueckers Update

After enduring a seven-game losing streak, the Dallas Wings have turned things around, winning four of their last six games. Their latest victory came on Saturday when they defeated the Washington Mystics 79-71 at home, doing so without their star rookie, Paige Bueckers.

Bueckers had been ruled out for the game due to a knee injury and was listed as “day to day.” However, on Tuesday, she was seen back on the court during the team’s full practice session, signaling that she may be close to returning. If all goes well, the rookie guard could be ready to suit up for Thursday’s matchup against the Phoenix Mercury.

Since being selected No. 1 overall out of UConn in the 2025 WNBA draft, Bueckers has been the lone bright spot in a Wings campaign marked by inconsistency.

In 13 games, she’s averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals per outing, easily leading the team in points, assists and steals while logging a team‑high 35.6 minutes per contest (second highest in the league).

Her early-season stretch included a career‑night 35‑point effort against Phoenix on June 11, and on Monday, she became just the 10th rookie ever to be named a WNBA All-Star starter.

Despite that brilliance, the Wings have struggled to find consistency without her on the court.

During a four‑game absence in May due to concussion protocol and illness, Dallas went 0-4 and fell to a league‑worst 1-9 record.

However, with two days between now and the Wings’ next matchup with the Mercury, there’s a very real chance that Dallas’ lead playmaker could be back in the lineup.
