The Atlanta Braves have announced that starting pitcher has undergone “Tommy John” surgery to repair the UCL in his pitching elbow and will miss the remainder of the 2025 season. He will likely miss much of the 2026 season as well.
This outcome was anticipated for the 22-year-old right-hander, who had helped steady the Braves’ rotation with nine starts before suffering an injury.
On a more encouraging note, the team also announced that infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. will begin his rehab assignment in the Florida Complex League (FCL).
Alvarez Jr. exited an early Spring Training game with a wrist injury, and there have been few updates since. With Atlanta’s infield depth already thin, the return of one of the organization’s few top position player prospects in the upper minors could provide a much-needed boost this summer.
He made his MLB debut last season, appearing in eight games.
