Sad news: Texas A&M Aggies abruptly lose potential star to the transfer portal

Following a disappointing season, the Texas A\&M Aggies have now seen their seventh player enter the transfer portal.

Junior outfielder  is the latest to depart, according to Andrew Riedell on X. During his lone season with the Aggies, George posted a .231 batting average, recorded three doubles and four RBIs, and stole two bases in as many attempts. He appeared in 34 games and started 17 of them.

Prior to A&M, George built an impressive resume. Hailing from Trujillo, Puerto Rico, George committed to Alabama A&M. As a Bulldog, he was named SWAC Freshman of the Year, Second Team All-SWAC and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American in 2023.

Although his numbers dipped during his time at Texas A\&M, Jamal George is only a year removed from an impressive season in which he hit .310 with nine home runs, 10 doubles, and 35 RBIs. In contrast to his outfield role with the Aggies, George primarily served as a designated hitter and catcher during that standout freshman campaign.

He now joins a growing list of Texas A\&M players entering the transfer portal, including right-handed pitcher Kyrin LeBlanc, catcher Hayden Crites, outfielder Nathan Tobin, left-handed pitcher Austin Vargas, catcher Jacob Galloway, and right-handed pitcher Isaac Morton. All saw limited playing time with the Aggies and are likely looking for expanded opportunities elsewhere.

With star centerfielder Jace LaViolette likely leaving for the MLB Draft, the Aggies have an open outfield spot. Last season’s right fielder, Caden Sorrell, will likely shift over into center and standout left fielder Terrence Kiel II will likely slide into Sorrell’s former position.

Compared to last season, the Aggies have a long offseason that they can use to build up their 2026 squad. Coach Michael Earley moves into his first full offseason as A&M’s head skipper, allowing him to complete his first recruiting cycle.
