The Oklahoma Sooners have landed a new top pitcher.
A talented transfer announced on Instagram that she’s committed to Oklahoma for her final year of eligibility. This move reflects coach Patty Gasso’s ongoing strategy of utilizing the transfer portal to bring in seasoned pitchers who can make an immediate impact as the team’s ace.
“Norman, here I come,” she posted. “I am beyond grateful and excited for this opportunity!”
Gasso landed this commitment just four days after the Sooners were eliminated by Texas Tech in the semifinals of the Women’s College World Series.
The Oklahoma Sooners have secured a major addition to their pitching staff with LSU transfer Sydney Berzon, who announced her commitment to OU via Instagram. Ranked as the No. 1 overall player in the transfer portal by On3, Berzon was widely viewed as a top target for the Sooners as they looked to fill the void left by one-year transfer Sam Landry.

A three-year starter at LSU, Berzon arrives in Norman with an impressive résumé. She’s a two-time NFCA All-American, earning Second-Team honors in 2024 and Third-Team in 2023. Over her career, she’s compiled a 2.02 ERA and a 52-25 record across 61 starts—50 of which were complete games. She also recorded nine career saves.
Though 2025 marked her first season with an ERA over 2.00, Berzon still went 18-8 with a 2.46 ERA in 22 starts. Her standout year came in 2024, when she posted a 1.78 ERA and a 20-9 record.
Berzon becomes OU’s first portal addition of the offseason, which has also seen the departure of four players: catcher Corri Hicks, outfielders Maya Bland and Hannah Coor, and infielder Kadey Lee McKay. Alongside Berzon, the Sooners are bringing in the nation’s No. 1-ranked 2025 high school recruiting class, adding further depth and talent to an already elite program.
