With star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. sidelined until later this month and Jurickson Profar serving an 80-game suspension, the Atlanta Braves have been scrambling to stabilize their outfield. From signing Alex Verdugo to the emergence of Eli White, the team has explored several options—though not all of them have panned out.

On Friday, the Braves acknowledged one move that didn’t work out, parting ways with a familiar face.
Braves Cut Ties with 2021 Postseason Hero Eddie Rosario
Atlanta announced it had designated veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario for assignment. Rosario, in his second stint with the Braves, logged just four at-bats after signing earlier this month, going 1-for-4 with a single. In a corresponding move, the Braves promoted infielder Luke Williams from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Rosario, 33, carved out a special place in Braves history with his legendary run during the 2021 postseason after being acquired from the Cleveland Guardians. He hit an eye-popping .383/.456/.617 with three home runs and 11 RBI en route to NLCS MVP honors and helped power Atlanta to a World Series title.
Despite that magic, Rosario’s production declined in the years that followed. After signing a two-year deal with Atlanta in 2022, he slashed .221/.267/.379 with 36 home runs and 133 RBI over four seasons, including stints with the Nationals and Dodgers. His performance dipped significantly, and his -2.3 WAR suggests he’s on the downside of his career.
As the Braves await Acuña’s return, they’ll rely on White and Verdugo in the corners, with Michael Harris III anchoring center field. Rosario didn’t fit into those future plans, and now finds himself a free agent once again—his second job search of the season.
