Cardinals-Yankees Blockbuster Trade Rumors Get Definitive Update

Amid the current wave of baseless trade rumors surrounding the St. Louis Cardinals, some speculation can be dismissed outright.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado has been at the center of much of the chatter. This isn’t new—his name has been floated in trade rumors for the past five months and was a constant topic throughout the offseason. Despite all the buzz, the Cardinals didn’t trade him, which has only fueled more far-fetched media speculation.

One team frequently mentioned in these rumors is the New York Yankees. On paper, the fit seems logical—they’re aiming for a World Series run and have a need at third base. However, most credible reports indicate that the Yankees haven’t shown genuine interest in acquiring Arenado. Just because the move makes sense on the surface doesn’t mean the Yankees are pursuing it.

Jon Heyman of the New York Post echoed this sentiment in his comments on Tuesday, reinforcing the lack of real traction in these rumors.

“To me, Arenado would be a fit there,” Heyman said. “As I’ve said all along, the Yankees have shown no interest in Arenado to this point.”

There’s been plenty of talk about Arenado, but despite all the wild rumors circulating this season, it doesn’t seem like the Yankees are a realistic destination for him right now.
