Pitt Panthers basketball land country’s biggest athlete to bolster depth

Following a weekend update, it has been officially confirmed that the University of Pittsburgh Panthers men’s basketball team has secured another top international talent.

Pittsburgh Sports Now (PSN) initially reported over the weekend that Pitt was among the frontrunners to recruit Australian basketball standout player . As of Tuesday, PSN has confirmed via a source that Siulepa will be joining the Panthers.

Standing 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 220 pounds, Siulepa is widely regarded as Australia’s premier basketball player. He is already being viewed as a strong NBA prospect due to his physical strength, effectiveness near the rim, and dynamic athleticism in transition play.

Siulepa spent a season in the NBL1 playing for both the South West Metro Pirates and the Tasmania JackJumpers. Before that, he earned MVP honors at the Australian Under-20 National Championship and at the NBA Basketball Without Borders Asia Camp.

In Australia, Siulepa played alongside Lamar Patterson, a former Pitt standout, who is reportedly playing a key role in trying to bring Siulepa to the Panthers.

Pittsburgh has also landed another rising Australian talent, 6’8″ forward Henry Cody Lau, and secured a commitment from 7-foot center Kieran Mullen, who hails from Vancouver, Canada.

The Panthers have strengthened their roster further this offseason with several notable additions. Omari Witherspoon, a top prep prospect, committed early, while the transfer portal brought in guard Demarco Minor (Oregon State), guard/forward Barry Dunning Jr. (South Alabama), center Dishon Jackson (Iowa State), and forward Nojus Indrusaitis (Iowa State).
