BREAKING: Nebraska beat multiple elite programs to land massive commitment for top talented player

Nebraska basketball finalized its 2025–26 roster on Wednesday with the addition of four-star center Leo Curtis.

The 7-foot-1 prospect from Iceland committed to the Huskers just two days after his official visit to Lincoln. Curtis selected Nebraska over offers from Washington, Texas, and several other programs.

“I chose Nebraska because of how the coaches use the bigs and help players develop,” Curtis told HuskerOnline. “The facilities are top-notch, and I know I’ll have everything I need to improve. The fan support is amazing too, and I’m excited to be part of that energy.”

Curtis had originally scheduled a return visit to Washington for Wednesday and was also considering a third official visit to Texas over the weekend. However, those plans shifted after his time in Lincoln, leading him to commit to Nebraska instead.

“I was going to take more visits, but Nebraska really had everything I needed, and it was the right fit, so there was no reason to visit more schools,” he said.

Leo Curtis, a standout from CATS Academy (Mass.), recently reopened his recruitment after de-committing from Arizona State, where he had initially chosen the Sun Devils over Indiana and West Virginia. Ranked No. 84 overall and the No. 11 center in the 2025 class by On3, Curtis brings both size and skill to the Huskers.

The 7-foot-1, 220-pound Icelandic native showcased his potential internationally, averaging 5.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game with the Icelandic national team during the U20 Euro Championships. In the 2023–24 season with D1 Iceland, he posted impressive numbers—15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game—while shooting 64.7% from the field and an eye-catching 42.2% from three-point range.

“I’m a tall, versatile player that can shoot, attack mismatches, block shots, and make the right read,” Curtis previously told On3Sports. “I move well and have good feel for the game.”
