Former South Carolina guard MiLaysia Fulwiley announced Friday that she’s transferring to LSU, giving the Tigers one of the top talents in the transfer portal.
Fulwiley, set to be a junior, entered the portal shortly after South Carolina’s national championship loss to UConn. A key contributor for Dawn Staley, she averaged 11.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in just under 19 minutes per game last season—nearly identical to her freshman numbers. Despite only starting three of 77 games in two years, she became a dynamic spark off the bench with her scoring and transition play, shooting 43.2% from the field and 30.2% from deep.
Now at LSU, she joins a backcourt led by Mikaylah Williams and Flau’jae Johnson and is expected to play a major role—possibly even a larger one than she had at South Carolina.
The Tigers have experienced heavy roster turnover, losing all their forwards and centers to the portal or graduation. Fulwiley is their fourth portal addition this offseason, along with Kate Koval, Serah Williams, and Amiya Joyner.
