South Carolina Gamecocks’ LaNorris Sellers Suffers Ankle Injury

 

South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers suffered a right ankle injury during the Gamecocks’ game against LSU The injury occurred when Sellers was sacked by LSU’s Bradyn Swinson, causing his ankle to roll underneath him. Despite the injury, Sellers attempted to return to the game but was limited and eventually replaced by backup quarterback Robby Ashford.

 

Sellers had a notable performance before being replaced, throwing for 113 yards and one interception on 9-of-16 passing. He also ran for 88 yards and two touchdowns, including a 75-yard score that set a school record for longest touchdown run by a quarterback.

After the game, Sellers’ status was uncertain, but it was clear that his ankle was heavily taped. Coach Shane Beamer expressed confidence in backup quarterback Robby Ashford, who took over in the second half and nearly led the Gamecocks to victory. The Gamecocks put up a valiant fight, even leading with as little as 3:30 remaining in the contest.
