TCU Horned Frogs reportedly confirm massive commitment to bolster depth

TCU men’s basketball has bolstered its backcourt, with multiple sources confirming the addition of former Utah Valley guard. The 6-foot-5 redshirt sophomore, who earned All-WAC honors for the 2024-25 season, averaged 13.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, shooting 45.3% from the field and 34.9% from beyond the arc. Toolson began his career at BYU before transferring to Utah Valley, where he started 65 games over the past two years. He becomes the fourth transfer addition for the Horned Frogs, who lost both Frankie Collins and Vasean Allette to the transfer portal.

Toolson becomes TCU’s fourth transfer portal acquisition of the offseason and the second player to officially commit to the Horned Frogs this weekend. The team has been proactive in strengthening its backcourt and wing positions, securing commitments from former Oregon State guard Liutauras Lelevicius, former Providence guard Jayden Pierre, and former Iowa guard Brock Harding. A native of Vancouver, Washington, Toolson played a key role in leading Utah Valley to an outright WAC regular-season title and an NIT bid in the 2024-25 season. He earned Second-Team All-WAC honors and was named to the WAC All-Tournament team.
