Red Sox Receive Big News Regarding All-Star

Boston fans should feel good about the big-time addition coming…

The Boston Red Sox have had a rocky start to the 2025 MLB season, struggling with consistency.

Their current 8-10 record reflects that inconsistency, especially after a lopsided loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night. However, there’s a silver lining for Red Sox fans.

Three-time All-Star Liam Hendriks has yet to make his season debut, as he’s been sidelined with right elbow inflammation and placed on the Injured List just before Opening Day. His eventual return should bring a boost to the team.

Hendriks is someone fans naturally want to cheer for, but he still hasn’t made his debut for Boston since signing last year. However, according to MLB.com’s Ian Browne, that debut could finally happen as early as this weekend.

Red Sox place reliever Liam Hendriks on injured list

“Some news from Alex Cora’s pregame: (Richard Fitts) has a mild strain. No timetable,” Browne shared on Monday. “Hendriks will pitch once more in Minors. Probably activated this weekend. (Lucas Giolito) pitching in Hartford Tuesday, Bello Wednesday. That is likely the last start for (Brayan Bello) before activation.”

Amid all the ups and downs of the 2025 season, this stands out as a definite bright spot. Hendriks has been through a lot in recent years—most notably, his battle with cancer, followed by a comeback to the mound, only to then undergo elbow surgery that sidelined him for nearly all of the 2024 season, aside from a handful of minor league outings late in the year. While he has yet to pitch for Boston, his return to the majors now appears to be just around the corner.
