Sad News: UNC loses another star player in transfer portal nightmare

North Carolina’s basketball team for the 2025-26 season will have a significantly different look. Following the departure of three players to the transfer portal, another member of the Tar Heels has opted to move on after just one year with the program.

Talented  guard  enter the transfer portal in search of a new opportunity. He joined UNC a year ago after spending two seasons at Belmont, where he had built a reputation as one of the top shooters in the portal. However, he struggled to find his footing with the Tar Heels.

Tyson played in 31 games this past season but didn’t start in any of them. He averaged 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game, shooting 40.3 percent from the field. With just 7.9 minutes per game, his playing time and role on the team decreased as the season progressed.

He appeared in 31 games last season and didn’t make a single start. He averaged just 2.6 points and 1.1 rebounds per game while shooting 40.3 percent. He averaged just 7.9 minutes per game and as the season went on, his role diminished.

Tyson never really got going for the Tar Heels in his lone season as they were expecting a sharpshooter to come off the bench and provide some scoring. With some needs on the wing, some thought Tyson would stay and give it another shot.

However, it does appear to make sense for both sides to move on. UNC has already added Jonathan Powell on the wing as well as guard Kyan Evans.
