Phillies Dynamic Star Player To Betray Phillies For 6-Year Deal With Hated Rival

The Philadelphia Phillies were among the top teams in baseball, but they ultimately fell short against the powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers.

This offseason could bring significant changes to Philadelphia’s roster. With talented pitcher  set to hit free agency, the Phillies appear ready to let him walk, especially with top pitching prospect Andrew Painter expected to step into his spot in the rotation.

According to Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox, the New York Mets are the most likely team to sign him this winter. Knox projected that Suárez could land a six-year contract with New York.

“Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Ranger Suárez was the No. 2 free agent on Reuter’s board, and there’s a good reason for that,” Knox wrote. “The 30-year-old is a quality starter who is set to join a free-agent class lacking a top-tier pitcher.

“Philly may find it hard to justify giving Suárez the sort of deal he’s likely to command in this year’s market. It would be a lot easier to justify for the rival New York Mets, who missed the postseason in 2025 and who need to upgrade their rotation.”

The Mets are in dire need of pitching help, perhaps more than any other team in the league. With their financial flexibility, they’re well-positioned to make a major move, and adding Ranger Suárez as their new ace would be a strong step toward stabilizing the rotation.

Even after a signing like that, New York would still have the resources to pursue another high-profile free agent, such as Pete Alonso or Kyle Schwarber, to further strengthen their lineup.
