The American League Wild Card race is intensifying, especially in the West, where the Texas Rangers remain firmly in contention. With a 7-5 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Rangers extended their winning streak to six games, narrowing the gap with the Seattle Mariners to just 1.5 games for the final Wild Card slot.
However, the win came at a potential cost. Star outfielder Adolis García left the game early due to a quad injury, raising concerns about his availability moving forward.
On the bright side, Alejandro Osuna, who stepped in for García, delivered in a big way—his clutch two-run single in the ninth inning sealed the win for Texas. Still, losing García, a key offensive contributor, could be a significant setback as the playoff race heats up.
Adding to the concern, manager Bruce Bochy didn’t sound particularly optimistic about García’s condition, hinting that the right fielder might miss some time in the coming days.

“Doesn’t stop, doesn’t it? He was playing so well. We will evaluate him tomorrow. It’s a right quad [injury]. That’s where he feels it. We’re hoping for the best news tomorrow,” Bochy said, via Rangers Sports Network.

On Monday, García went hitless and left the game after the top of the ninth inning. While his 2025 season hasn’t been his strongest—evidenced by a modest .685 OPS—he remains one of the Rangers’ most dependable power threats and currently leads the team in RBIs. Despite his offensive struggles, his presence in the lineup is vital, and the Rangers would certainly feel his absence if he’s sidelined for any length of time.
Rangers look to continue putting pressure on the Mariners
The MLB regular season is a long grind that proves it’s not about how you start — it’s about how you finish. The Rangers had been in danger of slipping out of the playoff picture, but a timely winning streak has put them right back in the mix.
However, the road ahead doesn’t get any easier. After wrapping up their current series against the Diamondbacks, the Rangers are set to face a tough stretch: back-to-back three-game sets against division leaders—the Houston Astros and the Milwaukee Brewers. Following that, they’ll take on the New York Mets, who are currently clinging to a Wild Card spot, before another series with the Astros looms.
If García is forced to miss time to recover from his quad injury, his absence will be felt. The Rangers will need to find a way to stay competitive and keep their momentum going through this challenging portion of the schedule.
