The Texas Rangers remain mathematically in the postseason race. With a 68-67 record, they trail the American League West leader by 6.5 games and sit 4.5 games behind in the AL Wild Card standings. While team president of baseball operations Chris Young acknowledges the club’s struggles with consistency, he’s not ready to count them out of playoff contention.
“I just, in my heart, do not believe that we’ve played our best baseball yet,” Young said, via SportsDay Rangers. “My hope is that that is still to come. And if it is, given where we are right now… there’s still the possibility that we can make a push and make the playoffs. And that’s what I’m expecting. That’s what I’m hoping for.

“But the reality is we have to go do that… Right now we’re a .500 team because we haven’t been able to put together the consistency that good teams do.”
The Rangers still have a shot at making a postseason run, but it won’t come easy. The team has faced its share of setbacks—most significantly, the season-ending injury to starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and uncertainty surrounding Corey Seager’s return after surgery.
Pushing for the playoffs without two All-Star talents like Eovaldi and Seager presents a major challenge. While it’s still possible, Texas will need to find the consistency that president Chris Young emphasized as a key factor moving forward.
Up next, the Rangers will face the Athletics in Sacramento on Friday night at 10:05 PM EST, kicking off a three-game series. After that, they’ll travel to Arizona for another three-game set against the Diamondbacks, before returning home to Arlington for a crucial weekend series against the Houston Astros—one that could carry serious postseason implications.
