The Atlanta Braves have bolstered their pitching depth by signing another arm.
On Monday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers announced via social media that right-handed pitcher has signed with the Braves as an undrafted free agent. The pitcher also shared the news on his own social platforms.

“Drew Christo has signed with the Atlanta Braves,” Nebraska baseball posted on Instagram, along with a hand-signing emoji. “Congrats, Sto!”
Christo joins the Braves after a four-year collegiate career at Nebraska. During his time with the Cornhuskers, the 22-year-old compiled a 7-7 record with a 4.98 ERA. In 2025, he finished 3-2 with a 5.61 ERA, struggling with command (5.8 walks per nine innings) and posting a 1.636 WHIP. Despite those struggles, he averaged nearly a strikeout per inning, fanning 51 batters over 51.1 innings in 31 relief appearances.
Christo shifted between roles during his college career. In 2024, he was primarily a starter, making 10 starts in 17 outings. That season, he went 3-3 with a 4.62 ERA, 8.1 K/9, and a 1.193 WHIP over 60.1 innings. Overall, he made 13 starts and 51 relief appearances in college.
A native of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Christo saw his best results in a limited stint in a collegiate summer league, where he recorded a 2.37 ERA across five appearances (four starts). In 19 innings, he struck out 11.4 batters per nine innings with a 1.211 WHIP.
Braves Continue to Add Undrafted Pitching Talent
Christo is one of 11 undrafted free agents signed by the Braves this summer, according to Baseball America. Five of those additions are pitchers.
Among their UDFA class, Atlanta also picked up Georgia Tech standout Jaylen Paden on July 22.
The Braves are known for a strong pipeline of pitching prospects, some of whom could soon impact the big-league roster. However, undrafted players typically face a long developmental path before reaching the majors.
Given Atlanta’s injury woes—losing all five Opening Day starters to the injured list this season—the organization is emphasizing pitching depth. The rotation issues even forced the team to make moves at the trade deadline despite being out of playoff contention.
Christo’s addition reflects the team’s continued efforts to build out its pitching reserves for the future.
