The Dallas Wings reshaped the trajectory of their franchise by selecting former UConn Huskies standout Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
Much like Caitlin Clark’s arrival to the Indiana Fever the previous year, Bueckers entered the league as a highly touted star, and she has delivered on those expectations in her rookie campaign.
Bueckers has been a standout performer throughout the season for Dallas. Although the team has struggled in the win column, she has emerged as a foundational player the franchise can build around. Her presence is expected to steer the Wings back in the right direction in the near future.
Due to the team’s lack of overall success, the Wings are going to have another chance to draft a top-tier rookie in the 2026 WNBA Draft. Perhaps they will have a star duo to build around starting next season.
With that in mind, the WNBA took to social media on Monday to make a significant announcement regarding Paige Bueckers.
In their post, the league revealed that Bueckers has been named the WNBA Rookie of the Month for July.

“Paige Bueckers of the @DallasWings is your @Kia Rookie of the Month AGAIN,” the post read. “Bueckers went off for 18.2 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 5.2 APG in the month of July to earn her 2nd consecutive ROTM honors.”
Over the course of the season, Paige Bueckers has appeared in 23 games, posting impressive averages of 18.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game. She’s also shooting 45.4% from the field and 34.1% from beyond the arc.
For comparison, Caitlin Clark averaged 19.2 points, 8.4 assists, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals across 40 games in her rookie year, while shooting 41.7% from the floor and 34.4% from three-point range.
Clearly, Dallas already has a superstar on its hands. Bueckers still has plenty of room to continue growing and developing her game, which is a scary thought for the rest of the league.
After such a strong showing in the month of July, the announcement was just a formality. Everyone knew that Bueckers was going to win the Rookie of the Month award.
Before too long, she will also be crowned as the WNBA Rookie of the Year, barring a wild turn of events.
