The Cincinnati Reds optioned relief pitcher to Triple-A Louisville according to the team’s transaction log.
The move comes after the Reds were permitted to carry an extra pitcher for Sunday’s matchup against the Atlanta Braves. As a result, they were required to reduce the pitching staff by one before Monday’s game against the Chicago Cubs.

Lyon Richardson got off to a solid start this season for the Reds, but he’s struggled recently. Over his last 12 1/3 innings, he’s posted an 8.03 ERA, allowing 14 runs on 16 hits and issuing 12 walks.
The Reds open a series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday night at Wrigley Field. Cincinnati enters the matchup with a 58-54 record and currently trails the third and final National League Wild Card spot by four games.
