It sounds like the Indiana Fever are really finding their rhythm despite missing a key player like Caitlin Clark. Even without her, they managed to secure a solid win over the Dallas Wings, which is impressive. Do you think the Fever’s success without Clark shows just how deep their roster is, or was this more about the Wings not being able to step up in the absence of Clark?
Paige Bueckers Reacts to Wings-Fever Game
Bueckers really showed up, didn’t she? 22 points with a balanced stat line like that — especially with the perfect performance from the free-throw line — is pretty impressive for a rookie. Her ability to manage the game and contribute in multiple areas speaks to her basketball IQ.
It’s good to hear she gave credit to Dallas, though. Even when you’re playing at your best, acknowledging the competition’s effort shows maturity and respect. It also reflects how the Fever seem to be focused on team success rather than individual accolades, which can only be a good sign for their chemistry and future performance.
Dallas has been struggling lately, though. What do you think’s going wrong for them? Is it more about their offense or defense?

“The fact we’re competing in every single game that we’re playing, and we’re building reps,” Bueckers said, via Moreau Sports Media Prod Co. on X. “We’re a very young team… play in tight games, and play with different lineups.
“It’s really positive for us to get these reps in the first year that we’re playing. I think it will only help us in the long run and make us better.”
It sounds like Dallas has been competitive, even in their losses, which is encouraging, but they just haven’t been able to close out games. Losing by an average of just 7.7 points shows they’re not far off from turning the tide, but at some point, they’ll need to find a way to win those close games.
The fact they were able to beat a powerhouse like the New York Liberty gives hope, though. It’s proof they can hang with the best when everything clicks. The question is whether they can build on that momentum and develop more consistency, especially with the tough competition ahead.
With their current record, it’s easy to see why the season seems grim, but as Bueckers pointed out, the future does look promising. If they can continue developing young talent and make some adjustments to close out tight games, they could turn things around sooner rather than later.
Do you think they should focus on more veteran leadership or keep building around their younger core for the future?
