On Thursday, the Cincinnati Reds traded their 22nd-ranked prospect, Kenya Huggins, to the Athletics in exchange for utility player Miguel Andujar.
Andujar is set to join the Reds on Saturday and will wear No. 38.
The last five players to wear No. 38 for the Reds were Austin Wynns, Amed Rosario, Livan Soto, Mike Ford, and Michael Siani.
Miguel Andujar, 30, is having a solid season with the A’s, batting .298/.329/.436 with six home runs and 27 RBIs across 60 games. He’s been particularly effective against left-handed pitching, posting a 1.036 OPS in 45 plate appearances this year and a .995 OPS against lefties last season.
Given the Reds’ struggles against southpaws this season, Andujar provides a valuable option to platoon with Will Benson and Jake Fraley. The Reds will wrap up their series against the Braves on Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
