BREAKING: Phillies acquire physically gifted outfielder to bolster squad depth

The Minnesota Twins have traded outfielder Harrison Bader to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 31-year-old is batting .258 this season, with 12 home runs and 38 RBIs.

Bader, who is in his first year with the Twins, previously played 143 games for the Mets last season. He began his MLB career with the St. Louis Cardinals, where he played from 2017 to 2022.

Harrison Bader’s best season came in 2021, when he hit .257, smacked 16 home runs, and drove in 50 RBIs. He topped that RBI total last year, finishing with 51.

Bader’s final game with the Twins was on Wednesday in a tough 13-1 loss to the Boston Red Sox, where he went 2-for-3 with a strikeout. Over the month of July, he had a solid .290 batting average, including five home runs.

As for the Phillies, they are just half a game behind the New York Mets in the National League East standings. With a 61-47 record, they’re set to begin a three-game series at home against the Detroit Tigers.

Bader, who grew up in the Bronx, made his MLB debut in 2017 and had a brief stint with the New York Yankees. He also earned a Gold Glove in 2021.

In exchange for Bader, the Twins received outfielder Hendry Mendez and right-handed pitcher Geremy Villoria, though neither player was considered highly ranked in the farm system.
