Cincinnati Reds experienced pitcher has chosen to opt out of his league contract, as reported by Ari Alexander of KPRC2. The right-handed veteran posted a 4.17 ERA in 18 starts with Triple-A Louisville, recording 78 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.06 over 95 innings.
The 36-year-old made 14 MLB appearances with the Milwaukee Brewers between 2017 and 2019, posting a 6.88 ERA.

With Chase Petty and Brian Van Belle currently ahead of him in Louisville, it’s understandable that Wilkerson chose to opt out of his contract. He’s likely looking to join a team where he has a clearer path to reaching the majors again.
