Paige Bueckers acknowledges her mistakes against Caitlin Clark and analyzes what she needs to improve

Paige Bueckers has always been upfront about her performances, whether they’re great or not so good. After a tough game against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, the Dallas Wings star was honest about her performance.

The rookie, who came into the WNBA with big expectations following her impressive college career, acknowledged that her team’s transition defense and communication faltered at key moments, giving Clark the opportunity to dominate.

Fever Coach Makes Her Opinion on Playing Paige Bueckers Extremely Clear

“We didn’t get back in transition, and I take full responsibility for that,” Bueckers said postgame, acknowledging a series of lapses that left Clark open for several back-breaking shots.

“We knew what she was capable of. We just didn’t do our job containing her when it mattered most.”

Focus now shifts to development and chemistry

The loss was particularly frustrating for Bueckers because the Wings had shown real promise at the start. However, as the Fever ramped up the intensity and Clark found her rhythm, the game quickly got out of hand.

Bueckers highlighted the need for stronger team cohesion, especially during chaotic moments and fast ball movement—areas where Clark excels.

“This league is fast, and Caitlin is even faster,” Bueckers added. “I’ve got to work on keeping my head on a swivel and not losing my assignment when the tempo picks up.”
