Ground-breaking news: Dallas Wings sign former college superstar to help Paige Bueckers amid injury troubles

The Dallas Wings are battling through a rough stretch of injuries, but they got a bit of good news on Wednesday with the return of a familiar face.

Paige Bueckers is back in the lineup, but the team is still in need of depth. To help fill that gap, the Wings have signed Haley Jones to a rest-of-season contract, per Melissa Triebwasser. Unlike her previous stint with the team, this isn’t just a temporary hardship deal.

Jones, a former Stanford star and the sixth overall pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, was with Dallas last month under a hardship contract. She impressed in limited action, posting eight points and seven rebounds in her final game before being released.

Atlanta Dream just made the cruelest cut of the WNBA preseason

Now, she’s back for good — at least for the remainder of the season.

Jones has already suited up for the Atlanta Dream, Phoenix Mercury, and Wings in her young career. She’s averaged 3.7 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the WNBA so far. While her outside shooting remains a weakness statistically, Jones brings a versatile, all-around skill set to the court.

This extended opportunity in Dallas could give her the chance to fully showcase what she’s capable of.
