Dallas Wings Make Decision on Paige Bueckers After Coach’s Crucial Update on Her Health

Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings will take the court for the second time in three days on Wednesday night, facing the Chicago Sky on the road at Wintrust Arena.

Dallas will once again be undermanned due to ongoing injury issues. Both Arike Ogunbowale (left thumb) and DiJonai Carrington (rib) have been ruled out for the matchup against the Sky, leaving the Wings short on key players.

However, there’s a silver lining for Dallas: Bueckers is expected to suit up despite a scare during Monday’s 102-72 blowout loss to the Phoenix Mercury.

The rookie guard, who previously missed three games this season with a concussion, took a hard fall and hit her head on the floor in the first quarter of the loss but appears ready to play.

Bueckers managed to stay in the game after the hard fall but logged a season-low 24 minutes. The former UConn standout recorded 11 points on 3-of-11 shooting, along with two rebounds, three assists, a block, and one three-pointer.

The encouraging news for Dallas came from head coach Chris Koclanes, who confirmed after the game that Bueckers “is feeling okay.” His update helped ease concerns about a potential new concussion or head injury following the scary moment.

True enough, the team has decided that the hit to the head is a non-issue, and they have given Bueckers the green light to suit up against Chicago.

Bueckers and Co. will be looking to improve on their 6-14 record on Wednesday against a 6-13 Sky side that has also struggled to find consistency this season.
