As the Philadelphia Phillies strive to extend their lead in the National League East, they’ve made some key roster changes recently.
Following a somewhat inconsistent June, the Phillies managed to take the top spot in the division, aided by the New York Mets’ struggles.
It hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Philadelphia, as they were without their star hitter, Bryce Harper, for an extended period. Fortunately, he’s back now, and there’s hope he’ll ignite an offense that’s struggled at times.
In other roster news, the Phillies recently designated infielder Buddy Kennedy for assignment. Instead of accepting an assignment to Triple-A, the 26-year-old has decided to explore free agency.

Buddy Kennedy has had brief stints in the majors over the past two seasons with the Phillies, but hasn’t really made much of a mark. This year, he’s gone hitless in his four games at the big league level.
However, despite his struggles in the majors, he’s been solid in the minors. In 61 games this season, he’s posted a .283/.388/.447 slash line, with eight home runs and 40 RBIs.
